Has a set hp break point depending on level.
If the barriers hp 100 then the damage reseved is reduced by that much.
If you can't reach that break point no damage is dealt.

Barriers area on the long list of things to eventually do. Exactly how they will work hasn't been decided yet.

It's a good Idea, but I have one thing to say...
In the oen episode with the little Hanyou girl who controlled the barrier for the bat demons, Hanyou should have it too...

If you recall she controled it with the aid of a cristal...but yeah,why not...I think there should be a barier for each race...
