The words rang in Belegwath's ears as Mikomi spoke, and voices began to rise up in the dark depths of his memory. Arrogant claims of vengeance, and boasts of a great quest to be pursued until the ends of time. Smiling grimly, he lifted his head and spoke with a voice ancient beyond reckoning.
"Their Oath shall drive them, and yet betray them, and ever snatch away the very treasures that they have sworn to pursue. To evil end shall all things turn that they begin well; and by treason of kin unto kin, and the fear of treason, shall this come to pass. The Dispossessed shall they be for ever."
His grim smile vanishing, he continued in a voice heavy with sorrow.
"That doom was foretold by Namo, and so did it come to pass. Once there was a race of strong, fair people, but their fathers had taken an oath to be pursued forever. By their own hands they slew their kin, with their once fair voices they proclaimed lies. All in the name of a hateful promise taken in haste."
Belegwath paused for a moment, then gently nodded his head towards the sleeping Kitana.
"Take care, dear Mikomi, that you do not let this mission harden your heart or darken your vision. For if you let it consume you, and if you live only for its fulfillment, your hands will drip with the blood of those you love."
